Just completed a CF pin replacement. The process took approximately an hour to complete. Typically, this repair can be turned around in a day or two and the price varies depending on the severity of damage to the pins. It should be noted that the Canon Rebel XT is notorious for this problem due to the following reasons:

1) CF misalignment is possible from inserting the card too quickly

2) The screws to the CF card slot bracket become loose allowing for play and misalignment of card to pins

To avoid this problem, the CF card should be inserted slowly and evenly with pressure applied to the center of the card.
